This blog is based on actual events. However, all people, places, and things referred to in this blog are fictitious. Any resemblance to real people, living or dead, is entirely coincidental. In addition, any resemblance of the content to your life, the lives of people you know, and people, places, or things in your life, is entirely coincidental. And since there’s an infinitesimal chance that you live anywhere near the places where these actual events occurred, even if it seems like there might be a remote chance that you know something about the reality behind these posts… you don’t. Coincidence. Look it up.

I believe that I crossed an important threshold in my journey through life’s doors, and didn’t even realize it.

There comes a time in life, as your hippocampus files away experiences and memories for orderly retrieval, when it is no longer necessary to manufacture stories.

Early in life, there are few personal experiences to draw on; many of those “experiences” are learned from literature – academic or otherwise – or from the limited amount of sensory input collected in the earlier years.

Plagued by such a handicap, youngsters must sometimes contrive a fictional scenario that suits their needs, and use that story to provide context around any storyline that might have been lacking without the addition of some spice. If you are looking in the right place, you might detect signs of the fabrication process… “You see,” “ummm,” and “This is how it was” are good examples.

Over time, the need to augment experience lessens, as the repertoire of factual scenarios grows. At some point, the need to embellish approaches zero, and suddenly you realize that you no longer have the need to lie to get a point across.

Well, that’s where I am now. The stories found here are based on reality, with no need for augmentation. So beware; don’t try this at home.

You can’t make this stuff up.
